Heejin Lee

Biography:

Professor Heejin Lee completed her M.S. (2015) and Ph.D. (2020) in Criminal Justice and her M.S. (2022) in Statistics at the University of Cincinnati. Previously, she received her bachelor’s in Law from the Korean National Police University (2009) and then served for six years as a police inspector in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. Following her graduate studies, she was a Post-Doctoral Fellow (2020–2021) in the School of Criminal Justice at the University of Cincinnati where she managed a project examining the potential of virtual reality technology to improve police decision-making. Professor Lee’s research interests encompass the testing and extension of criminological theories, the narrative identities and decision-making of crime actors, correctional reform in an era of mass incarceration, public opinion and policy, and the application of advanced quantitative research methods in the social sciences. Her publications have appeared in Justice Quarterly, Criminal Justice and Behavior, Crime & Delinquency, Victims & Offenders, the Journal of Developmental and Life-Course Criminology, Police Practice & Research, Criminal Justice Review, the Journal of Criminal Justice Education, and the American Journal of Criminal Justice. Her main teaching areas include criminology, corrections, and statistics and methods.
