Philip Mulvey

Biography:

Dr. Philip Mulvey is an Associate Professor in the Department of Victim Studies and serves as the Graduate Coordinator for the department. He earned his Ph.D. in Criminology & Criminal Justice from Arizona State University (2013), a certification degree in Psychology & Law from Northwestern University (2008), an M.A. (2001) from Boston College in Counseling (Clinical) Psychology, and a B.S. (1999) degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. His focal research interests involve exploring the experiences of vulnerable and marginalized individuals at the hands of beneficent (the mental health system) and coercive (the criminal justice system) forms of social control. Other research interests include qualitative and field research methodologies, program evaluation, the experience of military veterans, and justice policy. Recent work has appeared in Justice Quarterly, Crime & Delinquency, Criminal Justice & Behavior, and Punishment & Society. Before entering academia, Phil was the program manager for the Health Disparities & Public Policy Program at Northwestern University.
