Eduardo G. De Campos

Biography:

Dr. Eduardo de Campos joined the Department of Forensic Science at Sam Houston State University in July 2024. Dr. De Campos received a B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Forensic Chemistry in 2013, a M.S. in Chemistry in 2016 and a PhD in Chemistry in 2020 from the University of Sao Paulo, in Brazil. Between 2018 and 2019, Dr. De Campos completed a doctoral research internship at the Center for Forensic Science Research and Education (CFSRE) in PA. In 2021, Dr. De Campos completed postdoctoral internships at the University of Sao Paulo and the State University of Campinas, both in Brazil. Prior to joining SHSU, Dr. De Campos was an assistant professor at Appalachian State University in North Carolina.

Dr. De Campos is a member of the International Association of Forensic Toxicologists (TIAFT), Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT), American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), American Chemical Society (ACS), Brazilian Society of Forensic Sciences (SBCF) and Brazilian Society of Toxicology (SBTox).


Research Interests

Dr. De Campos’ research interests mainly focus on the application of analytical techniques and traditional/novel sample preparation methods for the determination of substances of forensic interest in biological and non-biological specimens. Additionally, Dr. De Campos is also interested in exploring in vitro and in silico strategies to obtain information on novel psychoactive substances (e.g., metabolism, toxicity).
